Where to go for secondary school and why choose Marist Regional College?

As one of Tasmania's premier educational institutions, we are proud to maintain a strong partnership with Marist Regional College, rooted in shared values and a commitment to nurturing young minds.

Choosing Marist Regional College means choosing a legacy intertwined with the very essence of St Peter Chanel himself, a Marist priest! Chanel’s dedication to education and service continues to inspire.

Marist Regional College has a preference for students from St Peter Chanel Catholic School. We share foundational values instilled in our students, aligning seamlessly with the Marist ethos.

At Marist Regional College, academic excellence is not just a goal; it is their tradition. Their outstanding academic record speaks volumes about our commitment to empowering students to reach their full potential. But it is not just about grades; it is about fostering the growth of great character, in a safe, supportive culture where every student feels valued and encouraged to thrive.

Their extensive resources set them apart, providing unparalleled opportunities for growth and exploration. Led by a team of brilliant and well-qualified staff, their programs are designed to ignite curiosity, inspire creativity, and cultivate knowledge and leadership that extend beyond the classroom.

Year Seven’s Chanel Centre is a vibrant hub of learning and community spirit that serves as a "school within a school." Nestled under one roof, the Chanel Centre embodies a unique sense of intimacy and connection for all new Year 7 students to MRC, fostering a supportive environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Step inside, and you will immediately sense the buzz of activity and the warmth of camaraderie that permeates. Here, in “Chanel” most of the learning takes place in Year 7, creating a cohesive and safe educational experience. From settled and structured classrooms to collaborative study spaces, every corner of the Chanel Centre is designed to inspire curiosity and ignite passion for learning.

But beyond its physical structure, the Chanel Centre is a symbol of inclusivity and accessibility, providing students with access to outstanding opportunities, subjects, and facilities. Whether it is the advanced STEM/Discovery Lab, or nearby state-of-the-art arts studios, well-equipped facilities for sports, food, design and digital technology, students have everything and more to explore their interests and pursue their passions.

What truly sets Marist Regional College apart is the spirit of our connection and community. At MRC, they believe it is their people who make the real difference. No child will ever be disadvantaged, regardless of financial circumstances. The College’s Principal and former St Peter Chanel Principal, Mr Gregg Sharman, received fee support when he was a student attending the College. They will guarantee that no student is held back by fees or uniform expenses, ensuring equal access to all that the College has to offer. You might be surprised by what is available.

While the journey from Circular Head may require effort, it is a journey worth taking. Over 10% of the MRC enrolment comes from Circular Head, and their success stories speak volumes. Many of our former St Peter Chanel graduates have gone on to achieve brilliant things, a testament to the transformative power of a Marist education.
