Issue 12 - 21st July 2021
Welcome to Term 3!
The regularly scheduled newsletter will be published, as usual, next week. This Week 1 newsletter provides information on our updated COVID-19 requirements, and other schedules and reminders.
The recent outbreaks and lockdowns on the mainland are a timely reminder that we need to remain vigilant in our hygiene practices and contact tracing. Whilst we hope and pray that it won’t happen, we also need to be prepared at a school level for any potential lockdown in Tasmania and our staff are working on that. The school managed the 2020 lockdown exceptionally well, so we are confident we would be ready to go, should the worst occur.
I attended some of the swimming lessons today. Lisa Fraser and her team are very talented teachers in an arena that is noisy and very warm! The students were excited, but very well behaved. Thanks to Mr James Britton, our teachers, TAs and parents for your assistance.
I wish everyone a happy, healthy and productive Term 3!
Acting Principal
Mrs Kerrie Flynn
HAVE I CHECKED IN?
HAVE I SIGNED IN?
HAVE I SANITISED?
With the spike in cases on the mainland, and the requirement for our school to complete a Covid Checklist on a fortnightly basis, we would like to remind families of the following requirements:
Please do not enter the school unless it is necessary to do so. For the collection of children, you are able to wait at the bottom of the steps and the students will come out to you. Please adhere to the social distancing rules when gathering and avoid congregating in groups.
The preference is for families to contact the school via the following options:
Phone: 6452 1431
Email: spc@catholic.tas.edu.au
SeeSaw message to the teacher
Message in your child’s diary
Any adult entering a school building must use the Check in Tas app, regardless of how long they stay for. Check-in QR codes are placed at the school office when entering the building. A sign in sheet will also be available for those who do not have a smartphone.
Entering the school for any reason:
- Sign in at the sign-in station (School requirement)
- COVID check in using QR code or sign-in sheet (Tas Government requirement)
For Assemblies, we ask that people please enter via the front office, use the hand sanitiser upon entry and follow the two step process above. Please adhere to the 1.5m social distancing and refrain from entering the school if you are unwell.
Every Wednesday of Term 3 students will be transported to SWIRL to participate in swimming lessons as part of the Health and Physical Education Program. Below is a copy of the timetable. There is a $2 cost for anyone who wishes to come and watch.
Students in Grades 3-6 are expected to dress themselves. No parent/carer will be able to access the change rooms.
Kinder, Prep, Grade 1 and Grade 2 parents will need to ensure they hold a current WWVP card and carry it with them to be able to access the change rooms. The school will also need to hold a copy of this.
Term 3 continues to be Winter uniform.
On days when the HPE uniform is worn, students can wear PE shorts. Plain black or white socks must be worn, with no logos, writing or symbols. Students who continue to wear the incorrect socks, will be required to wear their Winter PE uniform.
If an additional layer is needed underneath the uniform, a plain white singlet or shirt is permitted.
